We're happy to announce that XTENTO has joined the Extension Developers Network (ExtDN), an initiative of like-minded Magento extension developers and companies located all across the world.

The goal of ExtDN is to establish high-quality standards across the Magento extension developer community as well as providing merchants with a go-to resource of trusted extension developers who are known to be reliable and who are adhering to the highest quality standards possible.

At ExtDN, members are cooperating: By trying to reduce interopability issues as well as trying to educate other members about trends and potential new threats or security issues, the ultimate goal is to improve the quality of the extensions that you, as a merchant or agency, purchase from one of the ExtDN members.

Royal Mail - Updated tracking link (June 2014)

Yes, Royal Mail has changed its tracking link again in June 2014. We don't know why they don't just set up a redirect from the old URL to the new URL, but well, their business is shipping.

The old URL used to track a shipment was:

http://www.royalmail.com/track-trace?trackNumber=#TRACKINGNUMBER#

The new URL used since June 2014 to track a shipment is:

http://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item?trackNumber=#TRACKINGNUMBER#

(#TRACKINGNUMBER# is a variable that gets replaced with the actual tracking number)

It is highly recommended to update the URL in your tracking emails if you're using our Custom Carrier Trackers extension, as otherwise your clients could be confused if a 404 not found page shows up when trying to track their shipment.

Not using our Custom Carrier Trackers extension yet? You can easily set up custom tracking links in Magento using it. Tracking numbers will automatically be replaced in the URL so your customers don't have to enter the tracking number manually. If you are using custom carriers which are not supported by Magento out of the box, you can use it to easily add custom tracking URLs to Magento.

XTENTO simplifies shipping from Magento with NetDespatch

Press Release

NetDespatch, the leading provider of web-based integration solutions for customers of postal and parcel carriers, has worked with XTENTO to create a fully supported Magento Commerce extension that allows easy automation of parcel despatch operations for UK retailers.

The NetDespatch solution within the XTENTO Magento Integration Suite(TM) facilitates instant and accurate electronic transfer of order details from Magento Commerce to a wide range of postal and parcel carriers, including APC Overnight, Nightline and Royal Mail.

“With this Magento integration, the time consuming manual entry of shipping data into different carriers’ systems becomes a thing of the past. This data entry work can be a limiting factor to business expansion and by slashing the time it takes to fulfil orders many more packets and parcels can be shipped for next day delivery,” says Steve Sneath, Retail Solutions Specialist at NetDespatch.

Once a user has selected orders to ship in Magento, the new XTENTO integration provides a specially crafted file for NetDespatch containing all data for the orders to be despatched. This data is then picked up automatically for the printing of the shipping labels on any label printer, anywhere in the world. Once the label has been printed, the tracking numbers are automatically returned into Magento via XTENTO, once again saving manual data entry.

NetDespatch, recently recognised as one of the top 20 Cloud companies in the UK, connects retailers, mail order companies and manufacturers to their postal and parcel carriers using advanced web-based software and services, and has a reputation for providing a high level of service which is ‘always there’.

XTENTO, a Magento Bronze Industry Partner, has been providing high-quality Magento extensions and integrations to thousands of customers, from small businesses to large companies, located all across the world since being established in 2008.

“Using the Magento Integration Suite by XTENTO and NetDespatch eliminates manual processes and saves businesses hours of unnecessary administration. We are very pleased to have this extension up and running and look forward to sharing the benefits with our customers”, added Sebastian Enzinger, Managing Director of XTENTO.
